Until now we have focused mainly on the collection of paper based material since this was at the greatest danger of being lost. We now, however, wish to move on to safeguard the future of the Archive by establishing Modern Collections, and we propose starting with three new Specialist Collections:
The COVID Research Collection – a collection of all the research conducted concerning the 2020 COVID pandemic, including qualitative research and quantitative studies of the general population, doctors, healthcare workers, business and the public sector. We see this as an international collection focused on the UK.
The Diversity, Inclusion and Equality Collection – we would like to collect together all the research relating to Diversity and Inclusion in the UK: historic, current and on-going.
The Brexit Collection – all the research conducted which relates to Brexit.
The objective of these new collections is to ensure that future historians and students have access to a good collection of real research evidence from contemporary times to understand the development of such issues.
If you have any research to contribute to these Specialist Collections, or wish to discuss any aspects (such as confidentiality), please email Phyllis Macfarlane.
