Current volunteering opportunities

The Archive of Market and Social Research is maintained and operated by over 40 volunteers.  We are currently looking for volunteers with specific skills, who are interested in working for a charity in a part-time voluntary capacity.  All roles can be done from home and fitted around other commitments. During the current pandemic, all meetings take place through Zoom or by telephone.

Marketing and communications

Marketing is one of the key committees running the Archive. Its remit is to promote AMSR to relevant audiences in order to build the brand, raise awareness, attract users, support the fundraising team and encourage contributions of material.

Our marketing team are seeking individuals with some experience of marketing and communications, either from a marketing or market research role.  A knowledge and experience of developing and implementing PR/communication plans, in particular via social media, is desirable.

Volunteers would either work with the Chair of Marketing or the Marketing Consultant who sits on the Marketing Committee.

The Archive is now well established and increasingly being used by researchers and others. Our fundraising team is seeking an individual with experience of writing applications to grant-giving bodies who can help us open this new source of income.

Scanning, Cataloguing and Indexing help needed

The Archive is expanding steadily and every document in it has to be catalogued, and also indexed to help users find what they’re interested in. A small team of volunteers works on this under the direction of the User Experience Committee, but we could do with one or two more people.

Indexing is like coding and can be done in short bursts or for longer periods as preferred. It’s a good way of exploring the contents of the Archive. Full training is given. Volunteers need to be able to access the Archive easily online and use Excel spreadsheets.

The Contents Committee would also like to hear from anyone who has an efficient printer-scanner linked to their home PC who could undertake occasional scanning for us.

Contact if you are interested or would like to know more.
